REFERRAL PROCESS
Veterinary Physiotherapists liaise closely with veterinarians, as in accordance with Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. We do this not only because it is a legal requirement but to provide accurate information on your animal and their rehabilitation needs. To initiate this process, we will request you to contact your veterinarian and send a referral form for them to complete, or you can ask North East Veterinary Physiotherapy to do this for you. You can access this form HERE. It will request information such as the name of your animal, breed, age, work load, exercise regimen, medical history, pharmacological therapy, and contact details of your veterinary surgeon. Upon receipt of your veterinary referral form an initial appointment can be made and a copy of your veterinary referral form will be kept on your file. To review our GDPR policy, click HERE.
Veterinary Surgeon’s referral is required in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. Please click HERE to download a NEVP veterinary referral form.
WHAT TO EXPECT
On arrival you can expect:
As within human healthcare a full subjective history will be taken from you as the owner as well as a discussion around the diagnosis and referral from your veterinarian.
Following these discussions, a full assessment will be conducted which will include objective measures such as gait analysis, musculoskeletal assessment, and functional movement assessment.
Treatment appropriate to findings will be administered, and a home exercise plan given for you to support and be part of your animal’s journey.
Follow up appointment will be made, however the number of these needed may vary depending on the nature and severity of the condition.
At the end of your animal’s rehabilitation journey a full report will be written and sent back to your veterinary surgeon.

A Veterinary Referral for must be received for your animal to be treated.
Cancellation with 24 hours of the appointment is fully chargeable
Cancellation within 48 hours is chargeable at 20% rate of the appointment price.
